When browsing through "PHOTOS" and then select 'All photos', there is something that (in my head ...) does not work as it should.

Take for instance one of my images

 

when looking over the "details" of my image by hovering over the blue "title" - one gets an information-box page with text-boxes and all details of: 'when uploaded' - 'Camera' - 'Lens' - 'Likes' - 'EXIF' and 'Rating" Etc.

One can also comment on the image from there.

BUT - to my knowledge, just by looking at this small info-page, I cannot see / know if anybody has commented yet. So, in order to find out, I have to click the 'View comments'-button ...?!

- Like it is now, I have to go over all of my images several times and click the 'View comments'-button to see if anything has changed regarding comments made.

The way this system works and is set up I never get any information of any comments, and I am always LATE to thank for any comments made by others.

- Just the other day, I found out that you, youself have commented in 

 - at 01-17-25 22:18 - "Walter. What are all these American cars doing in your country? Everyone looks like they are having a blast! I am a little jealous :)"

 

 

- I only found out about this yesterday, Wednesday 5th of February, 2025 - so, you would naturally think that I am an ungrateful member, not responding to your question - but I DID NOT KNOW OF YOUR COMMENT - until I clicked the 'View comments'-button ...

Nikon releases the 125x optical zoom COOLPIX P1100 compact digital camera

TOKYO - Nikon Corporation (Nikon) is pleased to announce the release of the COOLPIX P1100, a compact digital camera that features an incredible 125x optical super-telephoto zoom and superior operability for recording high-quality images.

The COOLPIX P1100 is equipped with a 125x optical zoom lens that covers an incredible range of focal lengths beginning at the wide-angle 24 mm*1 equivalent and extending to the super-telephoto 3000 mm*1 equivalent (up to 250x*2 zoom is possible when Dynamic Fine Zoom is enabled). As successor to the popular COOLPIX P1000, a compact digital camera that realized amazing super-telephoto shooting, the COOLPIX P1100 offers further improvements in usability. The AF-area mode in Bird-watching mode can now be selected, and the same functions that can be assigned to the camera's Fn button can now be assigned to the Fn1/Fn2 buttons on the optional ML-L7 Remote Control*3.

Just as with the COOLPIX P1000, the EXPEED image-processing system and high-power zoom NIKKOR lens with outstanding rendering capabilities enable the capture of beautiful images, even with super-telephoto shooting. In addition, Dual Detect Optical VR, which achieves a level of vibration reduction equivalent to the center 4.0 stops*4, effectively suppresses camera shake with handheld shooting. The COOLPIX P1100 is equipped with a 125x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers the wide-angle 24-mm to super-telephoto 3000-mm focal lengths. Adoption of super ED and ED lens elements that provide superior chromatic aberration compensation demonstrates outstanding rendering capabilities across the entire zoom range, even with super-telephoto shooting. In addition, Dual Detect Optical VR, which provides a level of compensation equivalent to the center 4.0 stops, accurately suppresses the effects of camera shake with super-telephoto handheld shooting. This enables the capture of sharp and clear images of birds, celestial bodies, and other distant subjects at dynamic angles of view.

2. Shooting functions that support diverse imaging expression

Bird-watching and Moon modes are independent of scene modes, and can be accessed directly using the mode dial. With the COOLPIX P1100, the AF-area mode used in Bird-watching mode can now be selected from [Center (spot)], [Center (normal)], or [Center (wide)]. Greater flexibility in framing and more precise focusing enable the capture of sharper images of birds' small eyes or their entire bodies that better reflect the user's intent. In addition, a [Fireworks] option has been added to [Multiple exp. Lighten] scene mode. Users do not have to worry about the blown-out highlights that often occur when shooting long exposures and can more easily capture impressively clear scenes of fireworks displays in which the brightness of the foreground or the background differs.

3. Support for 4K UHD/30p movie recording

The COOLPIX P1100 supports recording of high-definition 4K UHD/30p movies. Users can beautifully record subjects with the power of super-telephoto 3000 mm equivalent. Frames from movies recorded in 4K UHD format can also be saved as still images to preserve moments that simply can't be captured with a continuous burst of still-image shooting.

4. Superior operability that makes for more flexible enjoyment of super-telephoto shooting

Despite coverage of focal lengths up to super-telephoto 3000 mm equivalent, a weight of only approximately 1,410 g* has been achieved, allowing users to enjoy super-telephoto shooting more comfortably than with DSLR and mirrorless camera systems. Furthermore, the deep grip enables stable shooting, even for handheld super-telephoto photography. The camera is equipped with a focus-mode selector that can be used to change the focus mode even after focus has been acquired, and a control ring that enables the adjustment of settings such as white balance and manual focus.

5. Support for a comprehensive range of accessories that enhance shooting

The COOLPIX P1100 is equipped with an accessory shoe and accessory terminal capable of accommodating a wide variety of accessories, such as Speedlights and the DF-M1 Dot Sight that facilitates image composition during telephoto shooting. Support for Nikon's extensive lineup of accessories further expands possibilities for imaging expression. In addition, when the optional accessory ML-L7 Remote Control is connected to the COOLPIX P1100 via Bluetooth®, the same functions that can be assigned to the camera's Fn button, for example white balance and AF area mode, can now be assigned to the Fn1/Fn2 buttons on the ML-L7 Remote Control. With the COOLPIX P1100, operation of all the buttons on the ML-L7 Remote Control is enabled, further expanding possibilities for remote shooting operation. The ML-L7 is also effective in preventing the effects of camera shake that frequently occur with telephoto shooting and when pressing the shutter-release button, for smoother and more accurate shooting.

Details and quick reaction to a photo. 

 

As you browse the gallery and view the thumbnails.

 

You will see the hamburger menu at the bottom right of every thumbnail.

 

 

Simply moving your mouse over that menu will pop up the quick response box.

 

If you are logged in, you can do the following right from the quick response popup

Submit a comment on the photo.

Like or Unlike  the photo.

View EXIF data

See who liked the photo

View other photos taken with the Lens this photo was taken with

View other photos taken with the same camera

View all the comments for the photo

Copy a link of the photo so you can share it

View the photographers profile

Go to the actual photo page itself.

If the photographer enabled Rating of his thier photos, you would be able to cast a vote between 1 and 5 stars

 

You can close the quick response popup by simply, clicking on the Red close button or hoveringover another hamburger menu.

 

Choosing between Top or Side menus

 

You can either have your menu options on the left of some pages like this

Just simply click on the Switch to side menu OR switch to top menu 

 

Access your dashboard

 

Simply click on yu rprofile picture on the top right of the page to reach your dashboar page.

 

 

Add a custom lens list to your profile

 

When you add a custom lens to your profile, it becomes available as a quick selection lens to assign to photographs you are uploading. This is a great for film users where there is no EXIF data available.

 

Simply click on  My lens list from the left menu to see what you have as far as custom lenses.

 

From here you can click the link above that says Click to add more lenses

 

Simply find the lens, and click on it to turn the selection blue. Thus adding it to your list. Clicking on a Blue lens will remove it from the list.

The long awaited 35mm 1.2 from Nikon is expected to be announced this week.  This would create the coveted super fast bokek king trinity from nikon of 35mm, 50mm and 85mm .

Fixes: Fixed an issue that sometimes caused overexposure in the viewfinder and monitor shooting displays (live view) when the standby timer had expired then reactivated.

If you want your photos to be rated, go to your dashboard and under account settings, select allow rating. Doing so will allow members to rate your photo between 1 and 5 stars. JT

Hello JT - I am not convinced that the new interface on the Photo-page is an improovement - quite the contrary. Sorry but I miss two very important functions: 1) to be able to clikk the EXIF-Data for any image !!! 2) where is the "Who liked your image" we had before? This is gone now !!! Creating a story still lets you present your a photographic story using your photos from the gallery. The process is quite simpe. Go to your dashboard and click on [b]Manage stories[/b] from the Manage options menu on the left. Or, use the top menu under [b]Stories[/b]. If you do not have any stories started yet, you will get a message. Simply click on the [b]Add a new story[/b] button to create a story. Give the story a title and some content in the form that you see. Then click on [b]Submit new story[/b]. Don't worry. Its not published yet. Now add the photos you wish to include in your story by clicking on the [b]Add photos[/b] link on the manage your story page. Clicking on this link brings you into the familiar edit edit photo options you have already used before. All your photos will be displayed in order to assign them to stories. However, to minimize clutter, only the [b]Stories[/b] option is available. Your are simpl;y selecting the pictures you wish to include in your story at this time. Just make sure to click on [b]Apply edits[/b] under each photo to save your changes. If you want to make changes afterwards, just refresh the page. Done adding photos to your story? Just click on [b]Manage stories[/b] from the top menu and you will be back at the basic story management menu. You will now see [b]Edit photos[/b] link instead of the [b]Add photos[/b] link. Click on it and from, there add the content you wantto display for each photo, set the display order or remove photos from the story. As you hover over each photo, the edit options will appear. Just make changes and click on [b]Submit edits[/b]. Use the [b]Display order[/b] field to set the order in which the photos appear. 1 would be at the top, followed by 2, etc ... If you messed up and want to stick another picture between 1 and 2, give it a display order of something like 1.5. Also you can use any number values, you can start with 10, and increment to 20 or 25 ot whatever. Just remember the display order in the story is based on the numeric value you assign. If you check the Publish checkbox, and apply changes, your story will be published and visible to others. To view stories, simply click on [b]Stories[/b] from the top menu. Click on the title of a story to view the story. Layout of the images on the story are balanced between left and right of the page. This is automatically done for you and you have no control over that. Long overdue. After many years, It was time to create a mobile version of the gallery site. Having said that, you can now browse the gallery software from your mobile device with a better presentation. Keep in mind, mobile version has some limitations due to so much content on the site. But, the basic functionality is there. You can always switch between Desktop and Mobile version by clicking on the Computer or Phone icon located on the top menu. So How Many BYTES must an AVATAR be to get uploaded -- no matter how SMALL I make a pic the message still comes up that is has Exceeded the Byte Size and will not allow me to have an AVATAR -- Please Advise !
