Cosina Corporation will release the NOKTON 28mm F1.5 Aspherical, a dedicated interchangeable lens for full-frame (Nikon FX format) mirrorless cameras with the Nikon Z mount under the Voigtlander brand. This product is developed and manufactured under a license agreement with Nikon Corporation.

The NOKTON 28mm F1.5 Aspherical is a large-aperture manual focus wide-angle lens exclusively for the Nikon Z mount. It covers a full-frame image circle, and its optical design is optimized for the image sensor of Nikon Z system cameras. This lens is equipped with electronic contacts, enabling electrical communication between the lens and the body. The combination of an electrical communication-enabled body and the latest firmware*1 supports Exif information, in-body image stabilization (3-axis), and three types of focusing support functions (focusing by changing the focus point frame color, focusing by the peaking function, and focusing by the magnification button).

The lens consists of 10 elements in 8 groups, and the use of aspherical lenses provides excellent depiction even at maximum aperture. Despite its large maximum aperture of F1.5, it is compact at 57mm in length and highly functional. Its easy-to-handle size and large aperture make it a great “night snap shooter.”

The minimum shooting distance of this lens is 0.28m, and focusing is only possible with manual focus. The metal focus ring features a classic knurled pattern that is easy to use. Another feature is the silky feel of the greased metal helicoid, which can withstand even the most difficult focusing when the aperture is wide open.

The aperture is mechanically controlled directly on the operating ring, and is adjusted on the lens side, not the command dial on the camera side. The large F1.5 aperture and short minimum shooting distance make it possible to create photographs that “blur the background,” especially in close-up areas. In addition, the 12-blade aperture is close to circular, and out-of-focus areas of point light sources are also depicted in a neat shape.

Designed exclusively for Nikon Z mount

Equipped with an optical system optimized for the image sensor of mirrorless cameras that use the Nikon Z mount, this lens has a full-size image circle and can be used with both full-size (Nikon FX format) mirrorless cameras and APS-C size (Nikon DX format) mirrorless cameras.

Electronic contacts for communication with the body

The lens mount is equipped with electronic contacts, enabling electrical communication between the lens and the body. The combination of an electrical communication-enabled body and the latest firmware*1 enables Exif information, in-body image stabilization (3-axis), and three types of focusing support functions (focusing by changing the focus point frame color, focusing by peaking, and focusing by magnifying the image).

The minimum shooting distance is 0.28m

The minimum shooting distance from the subject to the imaging plane is 0.28m. The perspective unique to a wide-angle  lens and the maximum aperture of F1.5 enable images with shallow focus, especially in close-up areas.

Manual focus for precise focus control

The all-metal helicoid unit is machined and adjusted with high precision, and the use of high-quality grease that produces just the right amount of torque makes focusing feel smooth and allows for subtle focus adjustments.

Beautiful bokeh with 12 aperture blades

A 12-blade aperture is used to make the aperture shape closer to a circle, resulting in natural depiction of out-of-focus areas, and point light sources and other objects appearing blurred in a round, soft manner rather than polygonal.

This lens comes with a dedicated metal screw-in lens hood.
